the reopened aziza is pretty spectacular. i have been eagerly anticipating the meal because i remember coming to aziza years back for the tasting menu and the meal had blown me away. also have been a huge fan of mourad for some years now, but was awaiting the more casual option and lighter bill at the end of an evening. the girls and i came in on the first official day with a reservation around 7 and the restaurant was about half full.  the renovations are gorgeous!! the main dining room has tall ceilings and intimate lighting, you can barely see the bar from the entrance (it's beautiful with plenty of seating!), and the smaller dining room in the back is nice and intimate (though the backs of the booths are a little hard and very straight, which helped with my posture throughout the menu). we were quickly seated and brought waters and menus.  needless to say, we ordered cocktails and my mezcal one (golden boy?) was great. would definitely drink again. to eat, we did family style and shared: the trout appetizer, beef/lamb skewer, the chicken basteeya, the beef tagine, and added a side of couscous. the dishes came out pretty quickly and with good cadence, to my surprise, so it's evident that the kitchen team had prepared and trained well for the grand opening. everything was super flavorful and seasoned well, i didnt feel like anything was too salty, which can be a theme while dining out. unfortunately we didnt leave any room for dessert, but that definitely gives us more of an excuse to come back! dinner was $60 each after tax n tip - one of our best meals together at that price :) im def making a ressie with bf because the restaurant is so beautiful and romantic!

This review is for the much anticipated reopening of Aziza and I was able to snag a Friday night reservation on their first week back.  On food alone, this was hands down five stars.  We ordered the spreads, two small plates (smoked sea trout and kefta meatballs), two larger plates (basteeya chicken and whole dorade) and the buttermilk panna cotta.  This was just such an impressive meal.  I really recommend the spreads and you can order (and you are going to want to order) more bread.

On the night I came, they were either really oversold or really understaffed and the service really suffered because of it.  It took a while for a server to come by and bring water and take my order. The kitchen must have been really slammed because the food took a while too.  The restaurant was warm and cavernous but was really, really, really loud (not the best place for a romantic date).  With tax and tip, this meal was $85 per person - it's about average for an SF fine dining experience. I hope they iron out their service issues soon. I'll be back to try the other items on the menu.

A fabulous comeback! Very warm, inviting, and comfortable space. The bar area is stunning! Service was attentive, friendly, and impressive. Highly recommend the beef cheek tagine, the whole roasted fish, the beet appetizer, and the carrot appetizer. The Moroccan mint tea with cookies was also the perfect way to end the meal! We were disappointed by the breads/spreads, the rolls were dense and seemed store bought, the spreads would have been more delicious if not cold. Overall, the dishes were not served as hot as we'd like, but I'm sure that was just because it was their soft opening and they are still working out the behind-the-scenes operation. Great, competitive pricing. Unique and special wine list, also with really fair pricing. Will return!

Came here tonight and loved it. I'd been to the original Aziza numerous times and it was one of my favorite restaurants in the city - the new one didn't disappoint. The highlights were the chicken liver mousse and the beef cheek tagine. Both were made with impeccable spices and flavors. Cocktails were fantastic as well. Service was decent, but nothing amazing. Given that they've been open for under a week, I was fine to let this slide.

One thing that left a really bad taste in my mouth was that they charged us for extra pieces of bread that we ordered to go with the spread appetizer, at a dollar per piece. I don't think that I've ever been to a restaurant that charges for extra bread to go with a dipping dish. Given that we spent over $150 a person on the bill, this nickel and diming seemed unnecessary for a restaurant of Aziza's caliber.

Given everything, food gets 5 stars and service gets 4 stars. But I had to take off an extra star for the piece of bread charge. Just ridiculous.

Great food and decor to match the delicious food. In a city full of sophisticated options, this is what I really crave. They're just as good as before. One small thing I miss - the basteeya is now wispy-topped and photogenic instead of flat topped with more sweet powdered sugar and cinnamon.
